Amsterdam Events for June 2008

Events in Amsterdam - June 2008

After many months of faithful reporting, Kathleen Steeden - our original, additional E-zine columnist has moved on to bigger and better things. On behalf of the entire St Christopher's travel writing team, I'd like to wish her all the best in her future literary endeavours and say a huge thank you for all her wonderfully crafted columns. Obviously this opens up a rare opportunity for a new columnist to join the E-zine team so if you think you've got what it takes to tackle our city of sin, events guide then send me an e-mail at editor@st-christophers.co.uk

In the mean time, here's my tribute to Kathleen's Amsterdam legacy – with all the fun things coming up in Amsterdam in June.

The Towers of Amsterdam

Westerkerk and Zuiderkerk (churches) have been re-opened for public climbing. You can inspect these great view points every day of the week, apart from Sundays. Photos taken from Zuiderkerk will include the beautiful and ancient city centre. From Westertoren you can capture the Jordaan district and the old school city centre. There aren't that many great view points in the city so make sure you take advantage of this opportunity.

Red Light Fashion Amsterdam

Fashion and sex have always been inextricably linked so where better to put it all out there than Amsterdam? Thanks to a new initiative by fashion agency HTNK and the City of Amsterdam you can see the best bodies in Amsterdam showcasing the best designs.

You can see the collections of Amsterdam's top designers at sixteen former ‘fun' houses – dotted around the city. It's a refreshing change to the seedy side and is something not to be missed.

Expanding the City Exhibition

If you head down to the In Foam Photography Museum in June - you lucky things can explore the new exhibition - Expanding the City. This is a collection of photographers all showcasing their view points of Zuidas - Amsterdam's business area.

The show also gives you a first taste of the Zuidas Virtual Museum's Zoom Collection. This is a one off collection of various viewpoints - on a contemporaneous construction site in. It's your to enjoy until June 22, 2008.
