Take a Private Amsterdam Canal Cruise

While it's not cheap, hiring a private boat and a guide to cruise Amsterdam's canals is very romantic. Aboard one of the quaint salon boats you and your special someone can enjoy a private dinner or simply sip champagne as you float along Amsterdam's waterways. You can book a private boat tour on www.amsterdamboatguide.com If you are on a tighter budget you can take a regular boat tour from one of the many companies in Amsterdam and it will only cost you around 12 euros.

Boom Chicago - Elvis Chapel of Love

Amsterdam’s best comedy show has got a special Valentine’s show lined up for you. This Valentine’s Day they bring Love, Vegas and Elvis to their show. This special night starts with a three course candle light dinner in a former church, followed by a love-themed comedy show. During this special night you can also get married in the presence of the one and only Elvis. To top of it all off you will receive a goody bag, stuffed with exciting gifts.

Spa Zuiver

If you want a relaxing day for you and your loved one you should definitely visit Spa Zuiver (zuiver is Dutch for pure). This brand new spa in the Amsterdamse bos (a huge park on the edge of Amsterdam) is a breath of fresh air. It’s a modern and exclusive spa with an abundance of space. At Zuiver, you can slow right down, relax and recharge your batteries.

The Chinese New Year

Apart from Valentine’s day in February - there is also another important day that needs to be mentioned, the Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year is a celebration of the start of spring and is the most important holiday for the Chinese. The holiday is always held on the first day of the moon month, which differs every year but is always between January 21 and February 20. This year the official date is February 3, 2011 but the Amsterdam festivities will take place on February 5, 2011. There will be lion dances, lots of (loud) fireworks, performances by Chinese musicians and many other performers, around the red light district but mainly on the Zeedijk.
