Beauty Terrorist - Flashpacking
Flashpacking
This month I decided to investigate the finer things in our backpacking life, so in the name of international beauty, I explored Flashpacking. This is a luxurious phenomenon sweeping the globe, where travellers swap their backpacks for mud wraps and their flip flops for facials.
So the days of roughing it on the trail (or indeed on the way to work) will never disappear completely but they are gradually moving over. So what is it that's taking their place?

The Travel Kits
Beauty Terrorist was founded on the ever expanding industry of tiny travel products – designed to get through customs in this terrorized day and age. It therefore makes sense that this niche market would eventually throw some luxury items into the mix. We went fishing and here's what we brought to the dinner table.
Comfort Zone – Everyday Travel Kit - £25
This nifty little bag is crammed with goodies galore and some deceptively spacious pockets for all the other products in your everyday regime.
Inside you will find:
Everyday Milk – This is a great cleanser that will gently remove the grime that builds up between borders. A little bit of cotton wool loving can go a long way when it comes to blackheads. The almond oil and karité butter make this almost good enough to eat.
Everyday Tonic – The tonic works with the cleanser to tighten up your pores and build up your skin's natural defences. This one had a floral bouquet don't you know?
Everyday Makeup Remover – When it comes to the end of a busy day and the lights in the dorm have faded, take off your “natural” face with this hydrating remover. The sea salt and minerals in this will leave your face as a fresh, blank canvas, ready for the next onslaught of foundation.
Man Space – Travel Performer Kit - £32
It's about time that we threw something in there for the boys so here it is. The men's travel kit comes in a very funky green military bag that you can hang from any hook. When it folds out you will find the following treats inside for your weathered exterior.
Man Space Shave Performer – When used with a touch of oil, this performer gives a great shave without the grazes or the spotty follow up.
Hydra Performer – This is a cooling lotion that combats the usual irritation, brought on by sending that stubble to the next world. It's a twice a day deal that makes you look a bit more human after a 20 hour flight.
Eye Performer – The performer is a personal favourite and a highly superior alternative to plying your bags with hemorrhoid cream. It's also great if like me, you have the standard issue, caffeine induced, insomniac dark circles under your eyes.
The Spa Treatments
Applying these funky treats to yourself is one thing but taking the super extravagant step of paying someone else to do it, is another. It's also something that we all need from time to time.
In the name of research I dug through the 60 Comfort Zone spas across Europe and eventually settled on the wonderfully friendly Matfen Hall. After all it's important to check out just how relaxing this pampering is.
One massage, several tickled toes and an hour later, I felt like I'd achieved my purpose in life and evolved beyond the need to work. I later returned home to the manically depressing world of bills and looming deadlines - but for an hour of serenity it was definitely worth it.
I also picked up a little something, something that goes by the name of Man Space Splash Performer. The sales pitch for this facial cleansing equalizer involved innovative rebalancing and cleansing agents that help to remove impurities and control excess sebum. I'm not quite sure what sebum is but anything that makes me look perky the day after eight double vodka martinis, gets my vote.
