Affordable and Natural

On a recent expedition to the Croatian coastline, I came across the island of Hvar and an amazing oil - made from flowers that only grow locally. This red tinted miracle worker is called Cantarion Oil and the oh so enthused vendor couldn't keep quiet about its incredible healing powers. Apparently it sorted out sun burn, eczema, acne afflictions and much more. At £2 a bottle - cynicism generally gives way to curiosity and commerce. Refreshingly the sales pitch wasn't far off. It's potent stuff but diluted with your regular moisturiser – this oil is a super efficient quick fix for sun burn, heat rash and the dried out bits in-between extremities.
Your Daily Routine
New treats and trinkets aside, it's the TLC you give your skin on a daily basis that really counts. Think of this as the foundation upon which you build every other beautiful brick. You wouldn't use substandard bricks and mortar to build a house - so don't scrimp on the stuff you use to build up your body's largest and most protective organ.

A great start for de-griming your exterior is Precleanse from Dermalogica. This continues our oil theme and you start out by applying said oily accessory to your dry face. Here it bonds with the rubbish that's attached itself to your pores throughout the day. It smells almost good enough to eat but don't. After a nice little massage and a few minutes of bonding, add warm water and watch the foam burst obliterate the grime. Now you're ready for the real cleansing.

Dermalogica's Dermal Clay Cleanser is a great follow up, especially for oily and congested skin. It uses real green clay with a little Ivy and Lemon to refine the skin and while it might feel a little bit heavy in the beginning, the difference when you wash it off is really noticeable. With the Menthol after kick, it's a sort of skin equivalent to taking a deep breath after chewing through some super strong mints.

Different people suit different moisturisers. Skin Smoothing Cream will suit you if you're afflicted by dryness or skin that's old ahead of it's time. You whack it on after a toner and massage it in – in teeny, tiny circles. Grape seed extracts then work with the cooling cucumber to plump up all the old cells and bring back the supple look of youthful, yesteryear, sixteen-year-old skin. You can find your perfect Dermalogica prescription on their super Feng Shui website.
