Fix Your Skin With What You Eat
Most zits and skin ailments can be fixed without expensive exfoliants and through the roof, financially draining facials. To start with watch your diet because the crap you put into your body eventually gets dumped in your blood vessels and your skin. If this about turn in your diet doesn’t help then look into your cupboards for some quick fix cosmetic wizardry. Everyone knows about the overnight toothpaste on spots trick but what you might not be familiar with is this little black head fixer upper. To extract these bad boys mix some plain oatmeal with honey - to make a paste. Massage this into the affected area, leave it for a while and rinse. It’s simple and it works.
Modify Your Moisturisers
It’s not hard to make your own lotion and it’s equally easy to make so here’s the recipe. To make said lotion mix your regular moisturiser with an equal amount of vaseline. It works better than plain lotion and depending on the cost of your moisturiser, this mix extends the life time of your moisturiser – so you have more and you don’t have to replenish it quite so soon. Also on a side note, if you’re after softer skin all over, try adding olive oil to your bath water. Not a great amount – a tablespoon or two will do it.
Easy Exfoliants
It sounds a bit disgusting but if you want super soft skin, try this routine with a little, old school powdered milk. According to the latest gossip rags – this beauty tip comes from the delectable Cameron Diaz who uses powdered milk as a gentle combatant to her persistent acne. It just involves a teeny bit of warm water and small circular rubbing motions with the powder. Simple and cheap! You can also follow this up with your very own, homemade facemask by mixing two egg yolks, a cup of olive oil and a large banana. Beat the yolks and oil together before adding the mashed banana. From here on in simply apply a layer to your face and neck, leave it for half an hour and then rinse with cold water.
One For the Bath
This is another kooky one from the world of the celebrity rumour mill – specifically from the weird and wonderful synapses of Desperate Housewives star, Teri Hatcher. Good old Teri adds any leftover wine to her bathwater, which has the same impact on your skin as the olive oil tip from earlier on. Having committed the sacrilegious act of allowing wine to go to waste, I tried this out and it actually does work. With a little bit of extra research it also turns out that all grape seed extracts contain some pretty powerful anti-ageing nutrients, so bathe away!
