They were taken at two different Buddhist temples in and around the small town of Shalu. In the first shot you can see stacks of the paper that is burned as an offering to the gods. Luke Plastow's photo came a close second with his amazing photo as he explains "I backpacked around Europe last year and was surprised to find the city of Sarajevo still scarred from the siege in the 90s. The first photo is of a grenade explosion on a road. If the grenade killed someone the locals dyed the concrete red as a mark of respect."
