City Breaks for Brighton
City Break Brighton
Feel the wind in your hair and the fresh sea air - here’s how to do Brighton in a weekend.

Brighton or London by the sea as it’s also known, is the perfect place to plan a battery recharging mini-break. This old fishing town is swarming with vegetarian cafés and restaurants, and it’s bulging with independent shops, and boutiques. And if you get thirsty don’t fret – there’s a bar for every day of the year (or so they say). But how to fit it all in? Easy. Just follow this ultimate guide to the must-see places in Brighton and insure that you get the most out of your seaside visit.
Friday
Food: You’ve worked hard all week so treat yourselves to a tasty meal at award winning vegetarian restaurant Terre a Terre.
Friday Feeling: Now for the partying. The Mash Tun is only a short walk from Terre a Terre and a great place to start your Friday night. It’s especially good on a warm summer evening, with people spilling onto the pedestrianised streets around it.
Carry on the night: If you want more than just a few pints, head to the seafront. The beachfront club Life has a great outside bar, it’s always buzzing in the summer and it’s open very late.
Saturday
Lunch: Foodilic on North Street boasts an unbeatable all-you-can-eat salad bar that will sort out your hung over belly big-style. It’s only £6.45 for limitless plates of roasted vegetables, Greek salads and many more, tasty dishes.
Shop: Winding between The Royal Pavilion and Queens road you’ll find the North Lanes. The shops here are great for picking up trendy and bohemian knickknacks, clothes from unique boutiques, second-hand books, and much more.
See: Pay a visit to the famous Royal Pavilion. With Indian design on the outside and Chinese décor on the inside, this unusual palace is THE must-see landmark of Brighton.
Dinner: If you can summon up a hunger after that huge lunch, head to Food For Friends in the historic South Lanes. The restaurant has been serving locally sourced vegetarian fare for over 20 years.
Night-time fun: You won’t experience the true Brighton without a traditional gay night out. Slip into some fancy dress and hit the bars of Kemptown, finishing up in the Revenge Club, the gay capital’s Big Gay Cathedral!
Sunday
Picnic on the beach: Stop off in the Infinity Foods shop and bakery on North Road. This is where all the locals buy their hummus!
Cycle: If the weather’s on your side, spend a few hours following the cycle route along the seafront. You can pick up a bike from Sunrise Cycle Hire on King’s Road.
Stop off: While you’re by the sea make sure you have a stroll along the Brighton Pier and check out the ruins of the West Pier. This collapsed into the waves after a fire in 2003 and is an excellent subject for those ‘arty’ holiday snaps.
Dinner: If you have time before the trip home, watch the sun dip into the sea while you tuck into a portion of delicious fish and chips from the Palace Pier.
