Ringing in the New Year with St. Christopher's
Hot Hostel New Year’s Eve 2006
AMSTERDAM
Like most major cities in Europe, Amsterdam's hot tickets will be dispersed throughout the clubs and bars that litter the streets all with their own style. Renowned for its party people, you’re always going to be able to find your vibe here.
For a traditional take on the night you can visit the Het Paleis op de Dam, one of the most popular events for people all over the world, here they meet for the latest dance tracks and of course a beautiful fireworks display.
As you struggle with your consumptions from the night before, you can take part in the White Jump. Every January 01 in Holland thousands of would-be heroes jump into the icy cold sea water to cleanse themselves of the years sins and start the year off right. With temperatures of less the 3 degrees, you’re in for a fresh start if you go the Dutch way.
BATH
A New Year’s celebration in the ancient Roman city of Bath is nothing if not a Ritzy affair. The biggest party in town will be the Gangsters & Molls Ball at Bailbrook House. For £145 per person your night will include overnight accommodation so you haven’t far to go, a Cocktails & Canapé reception followed Dinner and a Cheese Buffet. Top the night off with dancing the night away.
BERLIN
Choosing to celebrate New Year’s in a city like Berlin and you just can’t help but have a good time. Depending on the way you like to celebrate you can do it big or you can do it intimate. Either way start off the night right with your friends at St. Christopher’s before heading out to ring in the New Year. If crowds are your thing you’ll want to head down to the Brandenburg Gate to mingle with hundreds of thousands of Germans and visitors alike. You’ll be entertained by the crowds, the food, live music and some fireworks. Looking for a low-key version of December 31 head over to the Sylvester Ball at the Palais am Funkturm. Here you’ll get the chance to dress up and waltz around the grand dance floor with your sweetheart. Sip champagne and toast to the health of your loved ones in 2007.
BRIGHTON
Just because it’s New Year’s, the Brighton scene doesn’t change. It just gets, bigger, better, louder and more. Every pub and club in town will be hosting it’s version of the best New Year’s Eve celebration in town. Including St. Christopher’s own Belushi’s nightclub. Give the bar a call and ask for a duty manager to find out more.
BRUGES
The tradition in Bruges is to gather in the cities Markt Square, snuggle up close to a loved one to keep warm and literally ring in the New Year with the sounds of the carillon. If pubs and beers are more your thing, check out St. Christopher’s very own New Year’s Party at the Bauhaus. Guaranteed Good Times.
EDINBURGH
Nobody can quite compete with the grandeur that is the Scottish New Year’s Party. Not only will you be celebrating the upcoming year and all it’s good fortune, you’ll be doing it for four days and four nights. This included processions, concerts, a street party, fireworks and plenty of whiskey to keep you going through it all. Missed out on street party tickets you can still get into the New Year Revels, an indoor ceilidh-cum-dance party for the young and smartly dressed. You’ll get the traditional Scottish dancing and music mixed in with the more modern melodies.
After the street party has ended the city is littered with great nightclubs for you to party into the wee hours of the morning. But you will need to get yourself an advanced ticket and believe me those sell out fast.
LONDON
Londoner’s love a crowd, but in a city of 8 million it’s tough to fit everyone together in one area. That’s why there’s two equally fabulous New Year’s parties going on in the Big Smoke this December 31. Traditionalists will choose to celebrate in Trafalgar Square as it is the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve party. Here thousands of revellers will welcome 2007 in time with the chimes of Big Ben. For the new age crowd you’ll want to head to the London Eye for your big night. Fireworks over the Thames makes for a purely London experience.
NEWQUAY
New Year’s Eve in Newquay is a fancy dress affair. No matter the occasion, whether you’re pulling pints for those party people, or if you’re hanging out on the opposite side of the bar out for a night on the piss, everyone is decked out in their very shiny best. Just before the midnight bell goes off everyone flocks outside to welcome in the coming year with a fireworks display.
