February isn’t just a month of sending and receiving valentines. It’s a month where in Newquay there are many events on – a lot of which coincide with the February half term holidays. The activities include everything from clubbing to zoo going, so whatever your fancy might be, Newquay has something to entertain you.

Fascinating Filipinas at the Newquay Zoo ‐ February 13 to February 28, 2010

Many rare animals originate from the Philippines and Newquay Zoo is spotlighting several of these Filipina creatures. Rare finds such as the spotted deer, the bleeding heart dove and warty pigs will be on display. On top of that there’s also a whole bunch of educational and family activities that offer the opportunity to learn about Filipino wildlife, flora, and culture.

Ugh! Weekend at Blue Reef Aquarium ‐ February 13 to February 21, 2010

For those of you who gravitate towards the disgusting, Blue Reef Aquarium has an attraction that is right up your alley. The Ugh weekend features some underwater creatures who behave in a way that’s bound to make your stomach turn and your horizons expand. Expect to learn about why certain marine animals munch on poo and so forth! Workshops, demonstrations and talks will take place throughout the day to provide a hands on experience for the brave of heart.

Shaun the Sheep at the Eden Project ‐ February 13 to February 21, 2010

Whether you’re a Shaun the Sheep zealot or you just like to exercise your creativity at an open workshop, you will not want to miss Shaun the Sheep at the Eden Project. For a mere £2 you can attend a workshop where you can sculpt a sheep of your very own. This workshop is held in the Core room ‐ daily at 11:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 15:00. These workshops are expected to fill up quickly so you may want to book a spot in advance. You can also catch a glimpse of the set on which Shaun the Sheep is shot. Other recognizable characters will be on display, along with other Shaun related activities that will entice you to take part in the interactive exhibit.
