June is the month that ushers in the summer season ‐ which just happens to be Newquay’s peak season! That means surfing and an abundance of fun activities under the sun. There are festivals and fairs to attend and if checking out a concert or two suits you better, then the Eden Project has you covered. Here we go!

Royal Cornwall Show ‐ June 10 to June 12, 2010

Wadebridge, which is just a short jaunt from Newquay, is hosting the annual Royal Cornwall Show. This agricultural show will feature exhibits, entertainment and activities that will surely make your day. There will be shopping opportunities and farmer markets that will give you a chance to taste locally produced foods too! Additionally you can expect crafts tables and a whole variety of livestock which you can observe and even purchase! The Royal Cornwall Show will be held at The Royal Cornwall Showground on June 10 until June 12, between 08.30 and 18.30. For more information give the organisers a call on +44 (0)1208 812183.

A Midsummer Night’s Surf ‐ June 18 to June 19, 2010

If you enjoy surfing in the dark, then you can label A Midsummer Night’s Surf tubular! In reality there will be lighting provided from dusk until 23.30 on both nights. The place to be for this night‐surfing event is Lusty Glaze Beach. One of Cornwall’s favourite surf spots, Lusty Glaze Beach is sandy, scenic and appeals to both swimmers, and surfers. This competition is going to be bodacious to behold, so get there early to watch the eventide surfers.

Polperro Festival 2010 ‐ June 19 to June 27, 2010

The Polperro Festival is back again featuring beach bon fires, live music, parades and treasure hunts. The fun doesn’t stop there though! There will be a talent show called Poperro’s Got Talent as well as poetry, choirs, an accordion band, guided costal walks, arts and crafts, historical talks, and exhibits. The festival is so full of diverse activities, that there’s definitely something for everyone. This community event is put on by volunteer groups whose aim is to benefit the Cornish village (and the surrounding areas) by enriching its historical and environmental awareness. Polperro is 36 miles (60 km) due east of Newquay.

Mika at the Eden Project ‐ June 27, 2010

The Eden Project is set to feature the fantastic showman Mika ‐ in Eden Sessions ‐ their summer concert series. On Sunday June 27 at 19.00 the Mika show is slated to take to the stage! Mika captured the music world’s attention with his runaway hit Grace Kelly a couple of years back and today he’s taking his second smash hit album on the road. X factor finalist Diana Vickers is also set to perform on the same night! Tickets are £35 per person with an additional £5 booking fee.
