Blue Reef Aquarium Shark Week - June 1 to June 5, 2011

Chomp! Chomp! Yikes! Sharks fascinate everybody. Even though they’re often perceived to be dangerous there are many fantastic facts that Shark Week can teach us. During Shark Week at Blue Reef the mysteries surrounding these beautiful creatures can be explored in talks and demonstrations. Presently sharks are on the cusp of becoming endangered and so Shark Week will adopt an empathetic approach to informing attendees about how they can help preserve sharks in the wild.

World War Zoo at Newquay Zoo - June 1 to June 5, 2011

Discover how zoos survived the wartime in Newquay Zoo's, special wartime garden event. Follow the World War Zoo trail, visit the wartime life display, receive wildlife gardening tips and pot, and plant, your very own free sunflower.

Freaky Nature with Poo at the Eden Project - June 1 to June 5, 2011

For those of you who gravitate towards the didactic and disgusting, Eden Project has an attraction that is right up your alley. The Freaky Nature with Poo exhibit features fun facts about plant life and how they make use of waste for survival. Expect to learn how plants defend themselves with spines, poisons, and more. Workshops, demonstrations, and talks will take place throughout the day to provide hands-on experience for the brave of heart. Tickets cost £25 and a banquet is included in the price.

World Ocean Day at Blue Reef Aquarium - June 8, 2011

Indian Queens Band at the Killacourt - June 19, 2011

The Indian Queens Band is continuing the Summer Concerts on the Killacourt by performing on Sunday June 19, from 14.00 until around 16.00. Indian Queens Band is steeped in local tradition and has been together in one form or another for more than 150-years. Why not come along and listen to the sounds of sweet music whilst enjoying lovely views of Newquay Harbour?

The Extreme Academy’s Midsummer Classic - June 25 and 26, 2011

Newquay’s Watergate Bay is the place to be on the weekend of June 25, 2011 for dudes with 9-foot long-boards. This contest will feature world-class long-boarding and will be judged in six different divisions. The British Long-board Union is pleased that the sport’s popularity is on the rise and that Watergate Bay is playing host, so come on down and catch some waves.
