As summer winds down and most of the beach loving tourists head home, Newquay continues to blossom with its fifth, annual Fish Festival. If you love surf, sand and food then this is the festival is for you.

Newquay Fish Festival - September 12 to 14, 2008

Now in its fifth year the Newquay Fish Festival highlights one of the amazing gems in this harbour town - the incredible seafood! A big part of the festivities will be the live bands playing throughout the night, cooking demonstrations by some of Newquay's top chefs and of course, the celebrated shark throwing competitions. This is definitely an event not to be missed!

Just Beyond Newquay

There's always a fair amount going on around Newquay and September is no exception. The Cornwall Food and Drink Festival is set to entertain your taste buds between September 26 and September 28, 2008. The centre stage for tasty, live demonstrations is the Rangemaster Cookery Theatre - where more than twenty top chefs will be showcasing their skillets. The festival can be found in Truro, just south of Newquay.

Funchal 500 Tall Ships Race

If you take a trip from your Newquay base, to the other side of the British boot, you will come across Falmouth. If you're in Falmouth between September 10 and 13, 2008 you will also come across a fleet of twenty five tall ships assembling ahead of a race to Ilhavo, Portugal. The festival is in celebration of the first settlement on the Portuguese island of Madeira and it's definitely a sight worth seeing.
