Cornwall’s Honolulu has an array of events that segues summer into autumn without disappointment with goings on that range from a fun‐filled days at Newquay’s zoo to motorcyclist spectaculars. Whatever your fancy, Newquay is alive and kicking in September.

Plant Hunter’s Trail‐September 1 ‐ 18, 2010

This ongoing event, which began in May, runs until September 18. This edifying, yet fun activity encourages its participants to learn about daring plant explorers and their adventures. The Plant Hunter’s Trail cracks open the exotic world of botany and the rich history behind it which is likely to inspire more than just home gardening.

The Sun Run ‐ September 4, 2010

The extreme‐racing motorcycling event ‐ the Sun Run, is set to go ahead in Newquay on September 4, 2010. If watching dare‐devilish stunts turns your torque, then you will surely want to be in attendance. The Sun Run begins at 10.00 and lasts until 23.00. The main players will be the Pirates 150 Motorcycle Sports Club and the Tarmac Terrorists. Keep an eye out for the show near Newquay’s main beaches.

Newquay’s Fish Festival‐September 10 ‐ 12, 2010

The eighth Annual Newquay Fish Festival is back with more fins and fun, and Newquay Harbour is again the venue for this year’s helping of the fish festival. Celebrants often consist of locals and visitors. The scene is also well represented by Newquay’s and Cornwall’s fishing community. Additionally, many local chefs will perform cooking demonstrations so if you have some fish to fry, or just enjoy being around anglers and netters, then Newquay’s Fish Festival should be on your to‐do list! The festival begins at 11.00 on each day.

Crantock Cornish Bale Push Championships 2010 ‐ September 10, 2010

If you’re unfamiliar with the bale push scene, then where better to discover it than the Crantock Cornish Bale Push Championships? Not to be confused with pushing Christian Bale (which is ill advised), a Cornish bale push involves groups of people pushing a huge, cylindrical bale of hay down the street. Said street is lined with spectators, so it’s advisable to find a good spot well in advance to watch the competition. Prizes are given out to the winners and money is raised to support local charities. The kickoff starts promptly at 17.30 in Crantock village ‐ near Newquay.

Polo on the Beach ‐ September 16, 2010

Watergate Bay is no stranger to sport, but that usually means surfing but believe it or not, professional Polo players will soon be taking to the beach to play a few games. Don’t call your audiologist, you heard correctly, it’s Polo. The match begins at 17.30, and there will be a public barbecue, and champagne hut. This picturesque cliff‐side match might just change your Polo perspective.
