It Could Be Any One of Us at Lane Theatre - Until September 28, 2011
Newquay’s Lane Theatre is continuing with their new production of It Could Be Any One of Us. The play will run every Tuesday and Wednesday until mid-October. The show begins at 19.00 and tickets can either be purchased in advance or at the box office on the day of the performance. The play is from Alan Aychbourn and is directed by Peter Choat, so it should be a real treat.
Crantock Bale Push 2011 - September 9, 2011
If you are unfamiliar with the bale push scene, then where better to find out more than the Crantock Cornish Bale Push Championships? Not to be confused with pushing Christian Bale (which is ill advised), a Cornish bale push involves groups of people pushing a huge, cylindrical bale down the street. The street is lined with spectators, prizes are given out to the winners and money is raised to support local charities. The kickoff starts promptly at 17.00 in Crantock Village (near Newquay).
Pirates Weekend at Blue Reef Aquarium - September 17 and 18, 2011
Newquay’s aquarium is offering an opportunity to experience all things pirate related in September. If you attend expect to hear stories of the swashbuckling folk of yesteryear and craft sessions that focus on the finer points of pirate flag making, and design. Additionally there will be classes that delve into the histories of actual pirates - even Cornish pirates. Keeping in the spirit of this historically nautical theme, the staff will be dressed in buccaneer costumes.
Zapcat Racing Grand Prix at Fistral Beach - September 30 to October 1, 2011
Zapcat boats are not an unfamiliar sight at Fistral Beach and neither are Zapcat races. On the weekend of September 30 the Zapcats will amaze you with their ability to speed through the choppiest of waters and launch off of waves. These are professional competitions and the participants will be earning points towards the National Championships. On Friday September 30 there will be ample opportunity to watch the practice sessions and there will be more than 35 powerboat races to enjoy. The event is entirely free to spectators.
