Edinburgh Delights

With the Edinburgh Fringe Festival fast approaching we decided to cast our traveller attractions net far and wide so if you do happen to have a spare minute between street art and theatre, you can make the most of the Scottish capital. We have the cheapest ways to get there, some tried and tested attractions and the highlights from our August events guide!

How To Get There On The Cheap - National Express East Coast do some monster fares when it comes to getting from the English capital to the Scottish capital. Advance singles start at a mere 28 english pounds and trains operate hourly between the two cities. Bonza! Give them a buzz on 08457 225225 for some inexpensive fairs or Google the website for savings and train travel tips.

Tried and Tested Attractions - The Camera Obscura and World of Illusions is part of the great, value for money, Edinburgh Pass scheme and it's an immense exhibition, crammed to the rafters with the oldest and the most modern optical illusions. It's also the most popular tourist attraction in Edinburgh, after the castle. The holograms of giant warships, Boy George and massive spiders are definitely worth every pinched penny.

August Event Guide - Our Edinburgh Columnist Kristin Buzzelli, gets stuck into the Scottish festivals with the low down on the Military Tattoo, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the International Book Festival and more. Read Kristin's column here.
