Getting There: Trains, buses and planes are all viable options when it comes to transporting yourself from London to the boot of Britain. National Express coaches win in the cheap stakes but only with super advance bookings. They can also take more than eight hours. Trains from Paddington take around six hours but the clear winner for the time and budget conscious - is the environmentally unfriendly airline option. Advance returns with Ryan Air from Stansted weigh in at £20 . . .

We're always on the look out for innovative ideas to spice up your travels and make it easier to overcome that fun destroying jet lag. That's why we got excited about the idea of installing Pod Beds in our hostels.
