December is not just about Christmas markets and family celebrations. It is also the beginning of the winter season in the Alps, and is it a home to many festivals across the continent (see below). The low season is also a great opportunity for you to travel further for cheaper as many hostels and airlines cut prices, including us!
That's right you can stay in Bath, Brighton or Newquay in any sized dorm (except twin) for only £7.50 per night from Sunday to Thursday. We must admit we had a big laugh when we received the picture below from Tash, whose friends apparently had a great time in the UK. This undoubtedly is our picture of the month and we will be happy to welcome Tash for free in our hostels next time she comes to the UK… Yep! Having fun is the key.

Hostel Story
It started like a weekend trip three years ago and it is slowly becoming a tradition. Same place, same hostel, nearly same time of the year and more people every year. It' s not about seeing London, 'cos I lived there for a year, it's more about living life without anyone looking at you saying who the hell she/he thinks she/he is. This is exactly what London is offering, a runaway from everyday life. I can't explain my story in words, nor I can send you all the pics.
People, London is a MUST and so is Camden town - ST. Christopher's inn.

Christmas is coming and the Capital gets into the spirit!
With Christmas coming London gets you in the mood with some great traditions and events. Why not see the lights at Oxford Street and Regent Street as well as the shops with their fantastic Xmas displays. Or the Trafalgar Square tree, traditionally donated from Norway.
Why not go ice skating at Somerset House. You can skate on the open air ice rink set in the grounds of this historical house. Take in a stroll along the South Bank where you can experience a wind-powered light and sound show called Electric Storm. An experience you will not want to miss! Or why not visit Greenwich and the infamous Millennium Dome, converted in a Winter Wonder Land especially for Christmas and the New Year. 2-6 December - Pig's Ear Beer Festival - London
Located in East London, at Stratford Old Town Hall, the 22nd Pig’s Ear Festival will once again provide you with an amazing range of real ales in a music free environment, so there’s nothing to disturb the drinking. Why Pigs Ear? Because it's Cockney rhyming slang for beer.
6 December 2003 Great White Ball, Lille
2004 will see the Northern France town of Lille, European Capital of Culture. But the celebrations will begin this day with a huge exuberant celebration all over town. The parade will go all around town and everybody will be dresses in white.

12-13 December - Air and Style - Seefield Austria
Air and Style is the world's biggest straight jump snow boarding contest. The competition also features a two-day festival of music and more events. 30000 fans are expected to enjoy the rides, the competitions and the infamous after-skiing parties. A massive crowd of around 30,000 people make the atmosphere of this huge jump contest more like a football match than a snow board competition.

Touring Europe
Artists touring Europe this December include Muse, Iron Maiden, Atomic Kitten, Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Stereophonics. Check their web sites for details, dates and locations of the concerts.
HOPE was founded in 1994, the Year of the Family, to assist Handicapped, orphaned, poor and exploited children. Working mostly with volunteers, we ensure that your donations go directly to help needy children. We now assist projects in over 20 countries including the UK and pride ourselves on their personal nature, targeting our help to individuals and small groups of people. Interpub and HOPE have joined together as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations to raise funds for street children and those affected by conflict.
It is our aim, with your help to raise £20,000 for this worthy charity. So please give generously. Collection boxes can be found in all of our venues. Also keep an eye out for special fund raising events throughout the year.
