Newsletter - March 2003
We are delighted to announce that our latest St. Christopher’s will open next week in the City of Bath!
There will be a completely new style bar area and a 59 bed Inn above. This is a historic building in the centre of Bath and we have worked carefully to ensure that we have a building and a bar that we can all be proud of.
Visit Bath not only to enjoy the museums and heritage, but also to sample the delights of festivals, the theatre, fine food & drink and nightlife. London is only one hour and a quarter from Bath by InterCity (trains run hourly during peak periods) and Bristol is only fifteen minutes away. For those seeking quieter retreats, Bath is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with the Cotswolds to the north, the Mendips to the south-west and - just across the Severn Bridge - the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. The coast at Weston-super-Mare or South Wales is also within easy reach.
And as a special introductory offer to celebrate our opening we are offering beds from only £10 per night for the month of April when you book online!

About Bath
Bath is a spectacularly beautiful city which stands on the River Avon among the hills of England’s West Country. Listed below are only a small sample of some amzing places to visit
The Roman Baths: 2000 years old and Britain's only hot springs. The Museum is well worth a visit, with modern audio-visual interactive displays, and you can walk right round the original Roman Baths, which are in an astonishingly good state of repair.
Pulteney Bridge: Take a stroll over Pulteney Bridge, built in 1771, and the only bridge in England with shops on both side. Take time to enjoy browsing in the small specialist shops which are so much a feature of Bath.
Bath Abbey: Bath's skyline is dominated by the imposing Abbey, now over 500 years old, but built on the site of a Saxon monastery, where the first King of Bath was crowned in 973. The Heritage Vaults Museum beneath the Abbey tells the story of 1600 years of Christianity in Bath, and is well worth a visit. The Abbey frequently plays host to organists, choirs and orchestras as part of the Bath Festivals programme, and lunchtime concerts.
Victoria Park: Stroll around here and enjoy the fresh air and views of Royal Crescent. Designed by John Wood the Younger as lodging-houses for the gentry on their visits to Bath, this crescent was completed in 1767.
Every year, Bath hosts a lively calendar of events. During the Bath International Music Festival in May, concert halls and theatres in the area fill with appreciative audiences; even the streets of the city are taken over in an enthusiastic outflow of mime, music and humour. The Bath International Music Festival in mid-May and the Mozartfest in November bring musicians and artists to Bath from around the globe. Art, craft and design fairs are held throughout the year, attracting collectors and browsers, while various live musical events are organised at Iford Manor and Dyrham Park, sometimes folk, sometimes jazz, sometimes blues.
For sports fans, there's a year-long programme of fixtures, from rugby and football in the winter to the spring Half Marathon and annual summer Cricket Festival. Bath's racecourse, famous for being the highest in the country has regular meetings, while Bath is close to Badminton and Gatcombe for their annual horse trials.
Bath is also a University town and has an abundence of nightlife, with many restaurants, pubs, bars and clubs for you to enjoy should you want a change of scenery from all the fun at St Christopher's!
HOPE was founded in 1994, the Year of the Family, to assist Handicapped, orphaned, poor and exploited children. Working mostly with volunteers, we ensure that your donations go directly to help needy children. We now assist projects in over 20 countries including the UK and pride ourselves on their personal nature, targeting our help to individuals and small groups of people. Interpub and HOPE have joined together as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations to raise funds for street children and those affected by conflict.
It is our aim, with your help to raise £20,000 for this worthy charity. So please give generously. Collection boxes can be found in all of our venues. Also keep an eye out for special fund raising events throughout the year.
Needless to say we are extremely excited about our latest venture and hope you can join us in Bath soon to share in the fun!
Happy Travels!
