Survey Results: the best hangover cures!

Remember those mornings where your bunk bed is spinning? Well, our very experienced experts (yourselves) have worked a lot on sharing their BEST hangover cures. Thanks a lot for your efforts in supporting us against one of the great diseases of hostel life.

As responsible licensees, our first suggestion would be not to drink too much. You obviously all know that. Well, our survey says, sleeeeeeeeeep is the best remedy for 36% of you. Simple and cheap medicine… But an equal 36% would rather go to the nearest fry up and top up their grease levels. Only 6% would rely on tranquilizers. And an amazing 22% recommend to drink more beer!!! Does that really help?

Hostel of the month: Euro Youth Hostel in Munich

Despite being home to some 1.3 million people and such industrial giants as Siemens and BMW most visitors go to Munich looking to sample the famous Bavarian Gemütlichkeit, and find it most usually at the bottom of a Masskrug (litre mug) in one of the cities justly famous beer-halls or gardens.

Britney Spears
3rd May

Yes she’s back…..again. This time to support her new album “In the zone”. She’ll be performing at the London Wembley arena. Who ever is still interested book your tickets right away. They will probably sell out like crazy. Don’t forget to also book a bed at one of our great hostels to drink away the headache afterwards. Who knows…… you might get lucky with a Britney look alike ;) .

Cannabis Festival
8th May

March along with the cannabis festival in London. Starting off in Kennington park all the way to Brockwell park via Brixton. Every year 35.000 people march along with sound of samba music. The city of London has granted the festival with an entertainment license so the march will end with countless music and performing events.

Standing Wave: International Guitar Festival
1st May to 3rd May

London's South Bank Centre and the International Guitar Foundation celebrate six-string wizardry from around the globe at this inaugural festival of the guitar, Standing Wave. The excellent line-up includes top jazz man John Scofield, flamenco guitarist Paco Pena and his dance company, former Rolling Stone Mick Taylor and many others. Enjoy this wonderful musical experience in the Royal Festival Hall.

Supergrass
8th May

Supergrass is performing at London’s Astoria on their UK tour to promote a new best of album. Supergrass earned their big name to the 1995 single “alright”. Since then they have released quite a few big albums like “I should coco” and “In it for the money”. For the people out there that like 60’s inspired music be in London on the 8 th of may.

London Comedy Festival
13th May to 23rd May

Laugh your ass off at the London comedy festival. Ten days of action packed fun, fun and even more fun and laughs. With hundreds of comedy clubs and performers competing there will be a comedian there that can tickle anybodies funny bone. Hahahahaha.

Edinburgh

Derren Brown Live
04th May

Derren Brown, the master of psychological illusion and perceptual manipulation is coming up to Edinburgh to give a live show. So for all of you illusionist wannabees out there this is your chance to see the Russian roulette man himself live on stage at Edinburgh Festival Theatre. Also a great show if you just want to be stunned by magic an mystery happening all around in the theatre.

Brighton

Streets of Brighton
6th May to 8th May

This three day festival in Brighton has a great number of venues and streets hosting all sorts of performing arts. The lazy kings is one of the groups performing from a large French company called Transe Express. If you are into performing arts and would like to visit Brighton for a few days, don’t forget to book into our newly done up hostel/hotel St Christoper’s Inn at the Palace overlooking the Brighton pier.

Bath

Bath International Music Festival

For over two weeks, the magnificent surroundings of Britain's finest Roman city are graced with the world's best music, from classical to jazz, world music and beyond, as Bath presents its annual musical extravaganza. With musicians from over 30 different countries Bath will have an international musical atmosphere. So if you’re a backpacker in the UK during those weeks its an experience you would definitely not want to miss.

HOPE was founded in 1994, the Year of the Family, to assist Handicapped, orphaned, poor and exploited children. Working mostly with volunteers, we ensure that your donations go directly to help needy children. We now assist projects in over 20 countries including the UK and pride ourselves on their personal nature, targeting our help to individuals and small groups of people. Interpub and HOPE have joined together as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations to raise funds for street children and those affected by conflict.

Hope for Children

It is our aim, with your help to raise £20,000 for this worthy charity. So please give generously. Collection boxes can be found in all of our venues. Also keep an eye out for special fund raising events throughout the year.
