Kabul Youth Hostel in Barcelona, Spain - An educational experience…!?!
That's right! Tuesday nights in Kabul have turned into Trivia Night. So get your team together and come and join in the fun!
Our first Trivia Night was held only a few weeks ago and was a great success! With categories ranging from 'entertainment', 'sport', 'geography', and of course 'Barcelona', there was something for everybody. And most importantly, there was free beer and pizza to be won. Our winning team went away extremely 'happy'…
In fact, it was such a great success that the following week we teamed 'Trivia Night' with our version of 'Red Faces' (for those Australians, or 'The Gong' show for those Americans out there). And we still haven't stopped laughing. Mike Stewart from Australia said, "The acts were absolutely hilarious as were the presenters who really got the crowd going." We had about 8 acts - they sang, they danced, they played a musical instrument, they even got up and told jokes!
It's hard to believe that summer's almost here again… But seeing everyone walking around the hostel every day, sporting their newest bikini or board shorts and a beach towel is a constant reminder. Barcelona is coming alive again! And the sand, the beers, the tapas, and we here at Kabul are waiting for you!
Kabul Youth Hostels has seen some major changes in the past few years. And one thing is for sure, it's looking great!!! Even if we do say so ourselves… Some of the main changes have to be…
- The bar with Happy Hour, Tapas and those weekly fiestas (parties for those of you who need to brush up on your 'travel spanish'!!!),
- The common area and the rooms are now fully equipped with air conditioning to give you a break from the strong Mediterranean sun!!!!
- We have more computers with free internet.
- And, we are also host to an amazing photo gallery with photographs depicting life through the eyes of a backpacker.
But of course Barcelona is much more than just Kabul… Barcelona, surrounded by mountains and the Mediterranean, is known for unparalleled nightlife, amazing views, unique architecture, and endless supply of beaches. The city is bursting with action after the sun goes down offering everything a social butterfly could ask for: bars, clubs, some of the best discotheques in Europe, and, those who wish to take the night's events past sunrise, can find company in the early hours in nearby Plaza Real.
By day, some prefer to relax on the beach, just a short walk from Kabul, while others can enjoy any of Barcelona's boasted tourist sights. For instance, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral, designed by Antoni Gaudí, is one of hundreds of examples of Modernism architecture which has some of its oldest roots in Barcelona. Modernist buildings, scattered throughout the city by Gaudí and his contemporaries, are a feast for any tourist's eyes. Also dotting the city are many superb museums including some specifically dedicated to the collections of world famous artists such as Picasso, Dalí and Miro.
Barcelona is one of Europe's hottest cities at the moment, drawing people from every corner of the world to take advantage of everything the city has to offer. The truth is that Barcelona has something for everyone, so make your reservation at Kabul this summer and join in the fun!
