Balmer's Herberge in Interlaken, Switzerland
Things to do in Switerland
Yes, there’s a reason why Balmer's has been voted the most FUN hostel, in both 2003 & 2004!
Even though Interlaken is best known for it's outdoor "adventure activities" such as Skydiving, Canyoning and Rafting (to mention but a few), it has something to offer all travellers, no matter what the budget. For just the pure nature lover there is loads of hiking and biking, or for those that want to relax - pick a field to sit and write in your journal. With it's spectacular views of the Alps, it's quaint buildings covered in flower boxes, or the lakes between which it is situated... every corner you turn is like a picture postcard.
September is the last month that any of the water activities will be available, however, Skydiving and Paragliding will still be in full swing.
With the crisp autumn air, the skies are often crystal clear. Just think of the breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps, just before taking that wild leap, and racing through the air… the chute catches, and you can, once again, take in the amazing sights.
Whether you are travelling east to west or north to south, Interlaken is on everyone's travel path. Switzerland being at the heart of Europe, and Interlaken in turn, being at the heart of Switzerland, is easily accessible from all sides. Regular trains run to Interlaken through Bern, Zurich, Geneva or Luzern. Once in town, it is but a 15min walk to Balmer's.
Winter, spring, summer or fall - it doesn't matter what time of year you're travelling, there will always be something to do. Don't miss one of the most spectacular towns because you may regret it later!
Skiing In Switzerland Is Not Expensive!
For less than 90 Euro, you can ski for 2 days (including rentals & a ski-pass).
For 150 Euro, you can have 3 days of skiing, plus 4 nights accommodation!
In the winter months, Balmer's offers specials on ski-packages, and most of all, the ease and comfort that ensures that you can enjoy a full day on the slopes. We get your rentals ready the night before, so there is no delay in the morning, no waiting in lines to get your ski's or snowboard - just get up, have breakfast, grab your ski's/snowboard from the rack, and off you go!
