Music Guide
When you’re just starting out in the music business life can be unnecessarily cruel. A gig no-one shows up to except your Mom, a bad review by some uppity critic, a lifeless reaction from the crowd, no money for the flash rockn’ roll lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of. The list goes on. And none of this has to do with your degree of talent or the heart and energy you put into your craft, it’s just that there are millions of people with the exact same dream as you trying just as hard to make it work. Well, for those of you who are endlessly pursuing your dream, this months music report is dedicated to you.
The St. Christopher’s staff are always a colourful and creative bunch, it’s an unwritten requirement. And that creativity, of course, comes out in different ways. For a few, it’s music that moves them. Chris, a barman at the Hercules Pillars, sidelines with his hard rockin’ band Sick On The Bus. SOTB have been around for almost a decade in one form or another, they’ve toured all over the world and right now you can actually catch them in all their mad glory on home turf. It’s never very hard to catch these guys, they’re always playing somewhere. And it’s definitely an experience you’ll be glad you made it out for. For the full story on SOTB visit www.sickonthebus.com or www.myspace.com/sickbus.
And with no shock or surprise at all, Camden also sports it’s own duo of musical geniuses. Uxia and George are two members in the trio that is Piper Saints – a punk/garage/rock inspired group that’s starting to make waves in England’s most competitive playing field. These guys have been playing a never ending list of shows the past few weeks with another one on Sept 05 at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town. They’ll also be making an appearance on the other side of the Belushi’s Bar when they play Camden at the end of the month as well. If you’re smart enough to get out there and see them in the coming weeks, you’ll be happy to know that their next big project is to sort you out with some fresh demos, band t-shirts and other merchandise for their legions of fans to scoop up.
