Sports Report
With all the Christmas cheer now over, its time to settle in to some more great live sport in the new year.
Manchester United lead the premiership into 2006 with only Chelsea in with a shout of taking the honours this year. Meanwhile in the FA Cup Liverpool host Arsenal and Man Yoo take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
The January transfer window should prove fascinating this month with Man Yoo set to chase Owen Hargraeves once again. Hargraeves will be hoping to join Henrik Larsson in Manchester with the Swede moving in as cover for Louis Saha. Chelsea seem set to swoop for Micah Richards, the talented Man City youngster. Richards would provide excellent cover for John Terry who could miss the whole of January after a successful back injury.
The Ashes comes to a close in January, with the last test deciding if Australia can complete a clean sweep against the tourists, something last done in 1921. Look out for Shane Warne who surely will pass 1000 wickets in international cricket needing only one to do so. Flintoff will be hoping for a little more fight from his team and a little more class from himself to give England any chance of anything but another painful Australian thrashing.
South Africa take on India at home in January with Graeme Smith hoping to turn around disastrous form this year. South Africa have lost 7 from 10 tests this year and heads will surely roll if that record is not corrected. Watch out for Saurav Ganghuly, who after being axed has received a call up.
Look out for the triangular tournaments as Australia host New Zealand and England in a triangular one day series. the first match starts on the 12th between hosts and England.
Chumps of the month : England’s cricketers, hopeless, utterly hopeless.
