march

Welcome to the St Christophers E-zine

Editor's Note - March 2008

The end of Lent is in sight which can mean only one thing for the tightened belts of the St Christopher's backpackers. Splurging! To aid in this calorific endeavour the March E-zine is crammed with self indulgent treats for your jet lag afflicted minds and bodies.

Within these virtual pages you can look forward to an interview with Rough Guide founder Martin Dunford, a free travel extract from the new Lonely Planet London, the Top Ten money saving travel tips in Bath and a luxurious excursion to Britain's only natural thermal spa in Beauty Terrorist.

Jen Page guides Ethical Travel through the delicious and carbohydrate laden world of potatoes, David Haw is back with his charitable take on the Ellen MacArthur Trust, DJ Michelle continues her northern music expose and James McDonald gets to grips with fishy oils.

My travel writing team just keep on getting better and this month they offer advice on Amsterdam's Jam in the Dam Festival, Berlin's Spandau Spring Festival, St Patrick's Day in London and much more.

Of equally exciting proportions there's also the competitions - which are hotter than ever. There's free accommodation up for grabs in Bath, travel writing rewards attached to Write For A Night and camera happy benefits in Snap For A Nap. Beyond all this the Top Five Reads gets persuasive with a little Jane Austen, my Welcome Stranger travel columns get some virtual airing and Europe's Famous Hostels unveil their brand new baby in Vienna.

All that leaves me with just enough room to congratulate the crew at the Village hostel, who recently won Best Small Comedy Venue in London, with the Falling Down With Laughter Comedy Club. Until next month's fits and giggles.
