Europe's Famous Hostel
Valencia
As a special Europe's Famous Hostels treat - we're doing a preview of the Spanish spot – Valencia. There's going to be a whole load of great travel tips coming up on this city soon, but until we've tried it out for real, here are out top five tips, based on what our informed sources have conveyed to us.
- Visit the City of Arts and Science
Check out the architecture on cac.es and you may well be sold – just by the sight of it! Top attractions here include an Imax Cinema and a whole host of interactive, sensory overloading activities. - Visit the Bioparc
This is something a little bit special in Valencia. You are immersed in the Zoo and surrounded by some very accurate habitats. It only opened in 2007 so perhaps it hasn't been ruined by too many tourists yet! - Walk or Cycle Through the old Riverbed
The former waterway of the Turia is reputed to be a beautiful path to follow but it is eleven kilometres long so we recommend you rent a bike and hop on. - Visit the Central Market
Our sources say this is the biggest indoor market in Europe with over 900 stalls, selling fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and everything else you could possibly imagine. - Beach Bathing
This sea side Spanish spot only has two months of something that resembles winter. The rest of the year is apparently spectacular so head down to city beaches - Las Arenas and Malvarossa - to top up those tans. More natural beaches further afield are Pinedo and El Saler.
