October E-Zine
Welcome to the St Christopher's E-zine
Editor's Note - October 2009
On a recent trip to the states I met a young traveller who told me he: “just loved autumn because the days get shorter, the temperatures drop and you know - Christmas isn’t that far away!” On behalf of the 99.9% of the population who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, intensely dislike the cold and see Christmas as an unnecessary travel budget haemorrhage, I slapped him and went about the assembly of a jam packed, distraction saturated October timetable. Strap yourselves in kids – it ain’t winter yet.
The best bits of your complimentary, cyber travel resource this month include a less than ordinary Hobo photo exhibit and a reprise of Rain Man down in Brighton, free Gin and Tonics for all at The London Restaurant Festival, celebrations of incalculable magnitude in Berlin twenty years on from the fall of the wall, and in the ever magical city of lights that is Paris, Nuit Blanche serves up an evening where nothing closes. It’s kind of like the movie Night at the Museum - but without the cultural black hole created by Ben Stiller’s acting.
Other prime cuts of literary beef include a one on one interview with Mathew Kepnes - the man behind Nomadic Matt, a free chunk of the wonderfully satirical travel book from John Drummer entitled Serge Bastarde ate my Baguette, the surprisingly wonderful body benefits of fibre on the road, brought to you by our very own world traversing fitness instructor and the very first video travel guide from St Christopher’s, blowing open the London Borough of Hammersmith with an expose on everything that’s fun, cheap and thoroughly enjoyable.
This E-zine is of course just like a Kinder Surprise and when you crack it open, you never know what you’re going to find - so until November I leave you to read away, assimilate what you will and skip over the stuff that’s absolutely useless to you.
