Our friends over in Amsterdam have kicked off a Europe wide fund raising project for Just a Drop. This is a small organisation that builds wells and water pumps, and implements health and sanitation programs in developing countries. They do this with a hands-on mentality and very little bureaucracy.
In Amsterdam they have a very efficient way of raising funds for Just a Drop. When you check in at reception, guests are asked for a one euro deposit in exchange for a key card.
At the end of your stay you can check out by simply dropping your key in the key card drop box. By simply doing this and choosing not to collect your deposit, guests automatically donate the one euro to Just a Drop.
It’s a win-win situation really. Guests have a speedy check out and help our good cause by Just a Drop of their key!
Other St Christopher hostels and Belushi’s bars are already following up this fundraising initiative their own charity projects, so keep an eye out for all the updates.
