Primal Scream – August 7, 2011

These alternative rockers originally from Glasgow have been around since 1982. Their 1991 album Screamadelica broke them into mainstream and despite many line up changes, they remained comercially successful and continue to tour, and record to this day. They’re currently on their Screamadelica Live tour celebrating the ten-year anniversary of their most popular album. Bobby Gillespie and his band are going to play in Prague at KC Vltavska on August 7, tickets are 785 CZK and they’re available through Ticketpro.

The National – August 17, 2011

The National is one of the most successful American indie-rock bands around. Even though they‘ve been together since 1999, their breakthrough moment came in 2010 with their fifth studio album High Violet. The album gained critical acclaim and also debuted with first week sales topping charts across the world - ranking #3 in the US, #2 in Canada and #5 in the United Kingdom. In fact it has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. The band that’s selling out stadiums and playing big festivals this summer including Sziget, Reading, Leeds and Primavera, will play a special club show at the Archa Theatre in Prague on August 17. Verdi Festival – August 19 to 31, 2011

Since 1993 the Prague State Opera opens the season with a cycle called the Verdi Festival, featuring the greatest opera stars of the day. This annual festival became a great tradition, offering audiences a chance to enjoy some of the best operas by 19th century composer Giuseppe Verdi and more. Tickets are available through the venue or Bohemia Ticket offices.

Cirkus Cirkör – August 22 to September 4, 2011

Cirkus Cirkör comes to Prague as the first star of the international festival of contemporary circus and theatre - Letni Letna. Cirkus Cirkör began as an independent group in Stockholm in 1995, with a desire to change the world as its inspiration. Since then they’ve expanded and gained respect, and today their movement includes touring and internationally recognised contemporary circus education classes! International Folklore Festival – August 28 to 31, 2011

The International Folklore Festival - aka Prazsky Jarmark - is one of the biggest folklore festivals in Europe, with performers coming from most continents and from each part of Czech Republic. You can see them for free, every day between 14.00 and 22.00 in the heart of Prague – Ovocny Trh right behind the Estates Theatre. Also there will be stalls with traditional hand crafted goods and all sorts of food, and drinks for you to enjoy!
