Had an excellent stay at this beautiful location. It's a nice chilled out place as you would expect from youth hostel with fun, friendly and helpful staff.
Good but, staff didn't seem to care had to ask three times to get a bed made up and someones stuff removed from our room that had been left and no-one knew were the guy had gone.
Didn't get discounts at bar or food as was not told until afterwards and they would not give discount. This is the second time i have stayed first time staff were exactly the same, thought i would stay second time as it was cheap but will definatly not be returning in the future.
Room was ok but dirty, when i visited about a year ago they had started painting corridors but have still not finished , looks like that will never get done.
very noisy room next door as they were watching films at full volume when we arrived at 12 in afternoon and was still going at 4 in morning. i appreciate some will be a little noisy didnt bother us as we were a large group but thought staff might have said something. as you could hear from second floor.
On both stays was not given any safety info there was a little printed piece of a4 paper with fire escape on back of door with a biro line showing the way you came in is the way you go out.
I travel a lot always staying in hostels and this is definatly one of the worst hostels i have stayed in staff don't care no feeling of togetherness here. just felt a bar the locals like because its cheap. with some bunk beds upstairs could be so much better here.
p.s get a DJ that is not looking to go into retirement. it was still the same guy the first time we stayed and he was rubbish. we went into town with a party of 8 and watched a band and did some nice pubs went to the club, shame because we would have liked to have had drinks at the hostel.
We really enjoyed our time there. Loved the vibe of the place and the burgers were incredible! My only complaint is that the fire alarm went off at 3.30am and then again at 8.30am for what was explained as a fault. It was however a horrible way to wake up, with there being no power or hot water to shower before we left. Disappointing way to leave such a good weekend. But we will be back :)
Our stay was great. We arrived really late Friday night and had no problems checking in, the room was clean and comfortable, the free breakfast was really good. The hostel was right next to the beach.
Really great staff and room. Night was rather cold and unfortunately not helped by no heating (we did ask someone at the bar last night for the heater, but were told that he was busy but would bring it up sometime in the evening. We waited but did not receive the heater). So although the room was perfect in all other ways heating would vastly improve it!
Staff otherwise were really helpful. The stay was marred by the act we had to leave early as one of the elderly ladies my friend looks after is in hospital. We asked if we could then receive a refund for our last night there, since we had no control over someone falling ill, but head office explained their 72 hr cancellation policy was incredibly rigid. I don’t feel this is at all reasonable, and would likely not choose to stay at a st christopers inn again because of the lack of understanding.
I first arrived to a very warm welcome, was a great price and really enjoyed my stay, would definately stay here again in the future and would reccomend to any travellers or people in search of affordable temporary accommadtion!
Great location, good vibes, jeremie the manager who was on the front desk was so welcoming and friendly! Not safe to leave surf boards around the outside at night, make sure to lock them up! Rooms were perfect, good value for money!
