We carried out a study on over 6000 global travel lovers to see how you guys feel about travelling after lockdown - and it’s awesome to hear that most of you are excited to get travelling again as soon as possible.

In addition to the local government guidelines, we are using your insights and feedback, in preparation to make the necessary changes across our St Christopher’s hostels in Europe to ensure we maintain the highest standards of health and safety for our guests and team, while keeping the true hostelling experience.

We all love the sociable element that hostels are known for. But there are a few things that need to be switched up in order for us to operate safely for now and protect the health and wellbeing of our customers and team.

So while we will continue to offer the best possible St Christopher’s experience that you know and love, here’s how we are adapting as a hostel brand so that you feel more comfortable travelling with us during this pandemic...

21 changes we're making in our hostels:

  • There will be reduced occupancy in dorm rooms and shared bathrooms ensuring we can cater for the correct level of social distancing.

  • In our survey, you said that you are more likely to stay in one of our private rooms over a dorm room - therefore we are looking at ways to provide more private rooms where possible in the short term. A variety of private rooms are available to book now.

  • We will be encouraging all guests to pay cashless where possible.

  • The correct social distancing guidelines will be adhered to throughout our venues and clear physical customer signage will be displayed to assist in this.

  • We have introduced new measures to keep personal contact to a minimum in our venues. For example we are inviting guests to share check-in details ahead of arrival to minimise contact at reception, as well as working on a new Check-In Online platform we hope to launch very soon.
