Rome, Italy
Italy goes big for Easter, and Rome is the perfect destination to experience the country's famous traditions. If you can get a spot, the Papal Mass at St. Peter's Basilica on Easter Sunday is worth a visit - or if you like a more modern show, the spectacular fireworks display over the Tiber River on Saturday night might float your boat. We'd also definitely recommend indulging in some traditional Italian treats (try Colomba cake) outside a café on a sunny day. Rome is a brilliant place to visit all-year round, but it has an extra-special something around Easter.
Seville, Spain
Seville or Sevilla is famous for its huge (and slightly ominous) Easter displays. These feature ornate floats, music, and thousands of participants dressed in traditional, hooded costumes. Witnessing the processions gets your heart pounding and they are especially exciting on a warm spring evening. Whilst your there, also enjoy the stunning architecture of the Real Alcázar , the vibrant nightlife around Alameda De Hercules and try some local produce in the Mercado de la Encarnación.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam is a great place to visit all year round, but the city really bursts with colour around Easter. Complete with blooming tulips, colourful canals, and eclectic museums, there's more to the Dutch capital than meets the eye. Visit the famous Keukenhof Gardens to see the best tulip displays, head to the artsy NDSM wharf and take a canal cruise on a balmy April evening. Amsterdam's variety makes it one of the best Easter holiday destinations in the world.
Paris, France
A visit to Paris around Easter makes for an extra-special trip. The weather can be lovely and warm, the cafés and restaurants are buzzing again, and the Seine is often lined with flowers. If you're after some Insta-worthy snaps, head to the Trocadero Gardens or the Parc du Champ-de-Mars (by the Eiffel Tower) for the amazing pink blossoms. To feel like a true Parisian, you can sip a bier or café-au-lait near the Pantheón.
San Sebastian, Spain
Another city in Spain that's perfect to visit around Easter, San Sebastian is a favourite amongst surfers, sunbathers and party-goers. With an average high temperature of 18ºC (but up to 25ºC) it's warm enough to set up in the sun all day, and the beaches surrounding the picturesque city wouldn't look out of place in the Caribbean. If you're after a spot to unwind in the day and let loose at night, San Sebastian is a fantastic Easter holiday destination.
