We’ve got an exciting announcement! This summer we’ll be opening a brand new hostel in Edinburgh ready for your travels of 2019! Right in the heart of the city’s Old Town, the new site will be joining our original St Christopher’s Inn Edinburgh hostel to make one huge and welcoming home away from home for backpackers. But first, here are a few sneak peeks…
ABOUT THE HOSTEL
Whether you want the ultimate social backpacker experience or a more private stay in the heart of Edinburgh, the new hostel will cater to every traveller’s needs. 140 more affordable beds will be opening across the road from the original St Christopher’s in the style of dorm rooms, private ensuite rooms and female-only dorm rooms. A lot of our dorm rooms will be decked out with modern, high-spec POD bed, complete with personal plug sockets, a reading light and a privacy curtain. However one special feature of our brand new hostel is a Safe Room; a huge, secret safe that’s been transformed into a spacious private ensuite room (scroll down to the Sneak Peek section to find out more).
Our hostel bar Belushi’s will be getting a brand new look for it’s move across the road this May. The student and backpacker favourite hangout hosts awesome live music and shows the world’s biggest international sports live on HD TVs and projectors. It’s the ideal place for hostel guests to hang out and socialise before heading out to party in the city or check out Edinburgh’s famous sites with new found friends.

Our new hostel will sit directly opposite the original St Christopher’s Inns, where you can reach pretty much every major Edinburgh attraction from a short stroll. Located in the heart of the medieval Old Town, simply roll out of bed and be in the middle of the action with charming pubs and buzzing bars around every bend. Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Calton Hill and the National Portrait Gallery are just a few of the major attractions you can reach on foot, all in under 15 minutes. Plus Waverley train station is right next door so you can pull into the city and feel at home in the hostel in no time.
SNEAK PEEK...
Built in 1892, the new site contains over a century of fascinating history, but we knew there would be something particularly special about it... Back at the start of the 1900s, the building was the city’s most popular fruit and vegetable market before becoming an office for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Inside, we discovered a huge secret safe. So huge that we can fit an entire spacious, private ensuite room inside without tampering with its size - so that’s exactly what we have done.
Keeping the original safe door and walls that are both over a foot in thickness, you won’t get a more peaceful night’s sleep. Complete with a roomy double bed, ensuite bathroom and a television, (all inside a safe!) we hope the Safe Room will make your Edinburgh experience something extra special.
