They say you’ll never forget your first time. We asked backpackers for some of their most memorable experiences whilst visiting London for the first time. Here are some of the best comments we received to give you guys inspiration when you touch down in the British capital...

Hannah Golden Winter

The first time I went to London I had a romantic walk around Buckingham Palace.

Yan Trotta

The first place I visited was to Hyde Park. I walked, took a coffee, saw the ducks and breathed deeply. I loved so much the Tower of London. I met a lot of funny people.

Kimberley Jade Bort

The first time I went to London, I went to see the Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s  Theatre. A pure delight.

Julie Bi

Camden Market!

Chanthy Khuon

The first time I went to London I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was a wonderful place wasn’t it!

Martin Thorn

The first time I went to London I was only 5. Since then I’ve taken myself and had more fun & pleasure. Including eight stays at assorted St C hostels!

Rachael-Amber Caldwell

Went on a pub crawl and didn’t get back to the hostel till just before checkout, then enjoyed a nice long flight back to Australia.

Joe Borg

Went to the Natural History Museum to see the dinosaurs because it’s awesome.

Justine Sha

The first time I went to London I drank as much tea as possible and lost myself in the British Library.

Michiel Luchies

Went to the William Hill World Championship of Darts

Pierce Parker

Had to speak proper English!

Helen Hield

The first time I went to London… I got shat on by a pigeon.

David Gill

The first time I went to London I couldn’t believe we had a roof top Jacuzzi and sauna in our hostel! St Christopher’s Village on Borough High Street near London Bridge. Very weird yet sociable ice breaker.

Don Santos

I got a walking tour from St Christopher’s hostel and it all amazed me. But what really appealed to me about London was its food.

Shereen Sagoo

The first time I went to London I visited London zoo. It's so fun for all ages.

Chloe Searle

The first time I went to London I explored every nook and cranny of South Bank. It was a lively area and in the heart of London, with features such as the London Eye and SEA LIFE London Aquarium close by. It’s the perfect area for a leisurely stroll along the river (particularly for any skaters out there! Be sure to check out South Bank skate park) or for a night of entertainment. Would definitely recommend.

Alfredo Goncalves

The first time I came to London I went to Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square areas. I always wanted to explore the vibrant atmosphere around there and I wasn’t disappointed. It was fantastic!!!

Darrell Biggs

I fell asleep on the night bus from Central to North London. It got to last stop and the bus driver didn’t wake me up, it turned around and I woke up all the way back at Leicester Square!
