Welcome to Copenhagen

We challenge you to find a Scandinavian city cooler than Copenhagen. Renowned for its colourful-lined townhouses and beautiful canals, the Danish capital is definitely a place to visit at least once in your life. From royal castles and quirky street art to museums, bustling markets and traditional Danish food, there’s something for every backpacker in Copenhagen. Get a rush at Tivoli Gardens, the world’s second oldest amusement park, wander around the waterfront of Nyvayn or hop on two wheels and cycle the city like the locals.

Use our Copenhagen Hub for all the information you need ahead of your trip to Scandinavia...

  • The currency in Copenhagen is the krone (crown). You don’t need to worry about tipping in the city as bills usually include service charge

  • In Europe’s cycling capital, do like the locals and hire a bike out from the hostel for just 80DKK (about £9)

  • Head to the food markets Torvehallerne or Copenhagen Street Food to fill your stomach on traditional Danish treats

  • Be cautious in Freetown Christiania, a hippy part of town. Don’t take photos around Pusher’s Street where drug deals sometimes take place

  • Go to Copenhagen Coffee Lab for your caffeine fix. They serve the best coffee in the city

  • If you fly into Copenhagen airport, the city centre is easily reached by taking the train in just 13 minutes. Trains depart from Terminal 3 every 10 minutes.
