Where do you go for Bonfire Night in London without paying festival prices or ending up in a crush of crowds with no view? The biggest display isn’t automatically the best night out, especially when you’re travelling solo, watching your spending or trying to get back across London afterwards.

For Bonfire Night London 2026, the published calendar places the traditional celebration on Thursday 5 November, with major weekend displays planned for 7 and 8 November, according to Skiddle’s London fireworks guide. That leaves room to catch more than one, rather than squeezing everything into the same evening.

The choices below include six distinct displays, from free central entry with an important restriction to festival productions with DJs and drones. Ticket costs matter, but so do admission rules, atmosphere and the journey home. Treat future programmes as planned, not guaranteed, and confirm arrangements before committing.

1. Alexandra Palace Fireworks & Drone Festival

Choose Alexandra Palace when the entertainment matters as much as the fireworks. This is the full-evening choice, not somewhere to dash into just before the first rocket.

The planned 7 and 8 November 2026 programme combines fireworks, a drone show, a giant bonfire and entertainment, with tickets advertised from £11.50, according to the Alexandra Palace Fireworks & Drone Festival website. The listed Saturday programme includes an outdoor DJ set, a Queen tribute and a German Bier Festival; Sunday is positioned as the family-focused session.

Festival atmosphere, festival spending

The skyline backdrop is a strong reason to choose Ally Pally. Marshmallow toasting, funfair rides, ice skating and the Summit rooftop viewing option add variety, but don’t assume every extra is covered by general admission.

For a solo traveller, Saturday makes sense if you enjoy music and a busy festival atmosphere. Sunday is the more natural fit if you’d rather avoid making the party programme the centre of your evening.

Plan your approach using Alexandra Palace or Wood Green stations, checking the designated entrance before choosing your final walking route. Allow for an uphill approach, wet ground and queues rather than timing your arrival to the display alone.

The verdict: Good value if you’ll use the wider programme. Less convincing if you only want fireworks and a quick departure.

2. Battersea Park Fireworks

Battersea suits the traveller who wants a display with a proper musical programme attached. Pick your evening by the line-up, rather than buying whichever ticket appears first.

The Battersea Park Fireworks website lists planned events for 7 and 8 November 2026, adult ticket releases spanning £10.60–£18.10, and estimated fireworks times of 8.30pm Saturday and 7pm Sunday. Saturday’s programme includes a Rudimental DJ set, Conjunto Sabroso and a Disco Ceilidh; Sunday lists Lords of Lightning, a Taylor Swift tribute and a pop-anthems afterparty.

Consider Battersea Park, Queenstown Road or Battersea Power Station for your journey, but follow the event’s entrance instructions rather than choosing the nearest station on a map. Don’t arrange to meet someone inside unless you’ve both got valid tickets.

Our guide to London’s parks gives some daytime context, but event-night access is a different proposition. This is a ticketed production, not an ordinary evening stroll through the park.

3. Blackheath Fireworks

Blackheath is the music-led south-east London choice. If UK Garage, house and a fairground sound like your evening, it offers more than a brief pause to watch the sky.

The planned event runs on Saturday 7 November 2026, from 5pm to 10pm, with fireworks scheduled for 8pm, according to the Blackheath Fireworks website. Its programme names DJ Luck & MC Neat, Brandon Block, Massaoke, comedy and South London Samba, alongside street food and bars.

Don’t mistake entertainment for an inclusive ticket

There’s no supported admission price to quote here, so check the live ticket release before comparing it with Battersea or Alexandra Palace. Fairground rides cost extra, which matters if your group tends to turn a modest admission spend into a much bigger evening.

Blackheath station is the obvious starting point for planning your approach. Check the entrance location and return services before setting off, and don’t assume you can wander across every part of the common once event arrangements are in place.

For groups, agree whether you’re buying into the whole music programme or mainly attending the fireworks. Otherwise, the keen dancers and those watching their spending can end up wanting different nights.

The verdict: A strong choice for garage and house fans. Less suitable if you’re seeking a quiet, uncomplicated display without fairground distractions.

4. Fireworks in the Park at Wimbledon Park

Want to celebrate on the traditional night itself? Wimbledon Park is the clearest fit for an adult solo traveller. It combines a council-organised display with enough food and entertainment to make arriving early worthwhile.

Merton Council’s fireworks page lists the planned Wimbledon Park event for Thursday 5 November 2026, with music-backed fireworks, a funfair, food stalls and bars, plus DJ Lisa Maffia and a new observation wheel. Ticket bands and availability are handled through the council’s linked booking page, so don’t substitute an old price from a previous edition.

The Thursday transport catch

The observation wheel is booked on the night, subject to availability. Treat it as an optional extra rather than the centre of your plans, particularly if you don’t fancy spending your evening queuing.

Wimbledon Park station on the District line is a useful starting point for route planning. Check which entrance your ticket uses and save a return journey before leaving your accommodation.

Don’t confuse a late-running London railway with an all-night service.

Regular Night Tube services run on Friday and Saturday nights, not Thursday, a distinction highlighted in Trip1’s Bonfire Night transport guide. Check the last useful connection for your complete route, not just the first train out.

The verdict: A straightforward choice for the traditional celebration, provided you take the journey home seriously.

5. Stow Firework Spectacular

Need a Bonfire Night date that fits a shifting work or study schedule? Stow’s planned shows run across three evenings, with an earlier twilight display each night. Its Walthamstow setting suits travellers staying in east London better than those based far to the west.

The Stow Firework Spectacular website lists events on 5, 6 and 7 November 2026 at Walthamstow Cricket, Tennis & Squash Club. The programme includes fire performers, a family funfair, street-food stalls and a licensed bar.

Wood Street is the nearby station identified by the organiser. Check the full route back to your accommodation, particularly if it involves a busy interchange after the show.

Check the current ticket price before deciding whether Stow fits your budget. Set aside separate money for food, drinks and fairground spending.

Earlier doesn’t mean silent

An earlier display may make the evening easier to schedule, but it doesn’t mean the event is quiet or adapted for sensory needs. If sudden bangs are a concern, confirm the specific format before buying.

The verdict: Three date options and a community feel make Stow a practical choice for east London stays. The journey is harder to justify from far across the city.

6. Coram’s Fields Fireworks Night

Coram’s Fields is free, but it isn’t an adult solo-traveller option. Adults may attend only when accompanied by a child, so that restriction comes before any discussion of savings.

The planned Bloomsbury event takes place on Thursday 5 November 2026, from 3.30pm to 7pm, with fireworks scheduled for 6pm and free general entry subject to capacity, according to the Coram’s Fields events page. Stage performances, food and drink stalls, and rides aimed mainly at younger children make this a family outing rather than a late-night social event.

Free entry doesn’t guarantee admission

General admission is first-come, first-served. Fast-track and accessible-viewing tickets are separate options, so check the relevant arrangements rather than assuming a free event requires no preparation.

For families staying centrally, Bloomsbury is convenient to approach from the Russell Square area. Save the entrance location, arrive with time to spare and choose a meeting point away from the main arrival queue.

Important distinction: A free display that you can’t enter isn’t a budget plan.

Adult backpackers should choose another eligible display instead of travelling here on the strength of the price alone. Our free things to do in London guide offers alternatives for keeping daytime spending down.

The verdict: Excellent in principle for eligible families seeking an early central event. Not suitable for an unaccompanied adult, however appealing the location.

Plan Your Night and Beat the Crowds

Pick your date before your venue. Traditional-night purists should favour Wimbledon Park, or Coram’s Fields if attending with a child; weekend visitors can choose the larger festival productions. Stow is useful when you need more flexibility.

Buy admission online early, particularly where there are no gate sales. Read refund and re-entry conditions before paying, then budget separately for food, rides and transport rather than treating admission as the whole cost.

Make the exit part of the plan

Arrive by public transport and save an alternative route home. Check live station information before leaving, because the station you used on arrival may not be the easiest departure point.

The GM GROUP Services crowd control guide explains why clear routes and managed movement matter. As a visitor, your job is simpler: keep exits clear and don’t stop abruptly in a moving crowd.

Choose an organised display rather than bringing fireworks of your own. London Fire Brigade’s fireworks guidance recommends public displays as the larger, safer alternative to home celebrations.

Our London locations give you central starting points for planning these journeys, but central doesn’t mean walkable from every park. Choose the location that makes your return easiest, especially if you’re travelling alone.

Book early, travel light and let London’s night buses finish the evening when the trains don’t. Save the route before the fireworks start.
