Sushi. You either love it or you hate it. Here at St Christopher’s, we’re partial to some fresh Japanese food - so thought we’d write an article about all the best sushi spots in the city. Sashimi, California rolls, slippery salmon and rice wrapped in seaweed. Our tastebuds get all tingly just thinking about it. Delicate parcels topped with a fiery wasabi kick, a generous dash of soy sauce - and let’s not forget the finishing touch - a tiny strand of ginger. So satisfying. These are our top affordable spots to get your fishy fix:
Just around the corner from our , you’ll find the best sushi spot in Liverpool Street. Hidden away in the Andaz Hotel, Miyako is a smart spot in the banker’s district serving seriously tasty sushi, sashimi and teriyaki. The contemporary interior equipped with dark wooden tables is a relaxing place to dine, away from the hustle and bustle of Liverpool Street.
Head chef Kosei Sakamoto takes pride in each of his dishes, presenting them beautifully so it will feel like a real treat eating here - not just because it’s inside a 5 star hotel. Miyako is probably the priciest joint in this list (but still pretty decent compared to the other overly priced sushi spots in the area like Sushi Samba). If you're sharing it works out pretty affordable - and isn’t sharing what sushi’s all about?
KULU KULU SUSHI

From sake marinated oyster to sea urchin and vast sashimi selections, your taste buds are in for some good fun and flavour. They serve pretty inventive desserts, too.
Yoobi is different to any other sushi joint in the city. It serves all of its sushi in seaweed cones - and the fillings are so creative with a Brazilian-Japanese fusion. Plus, it’s London’s first ever temakeria. Not familiar with the term? A temakeria is sushi, wrapped in a crisp nori (seaweed) cone, perfect for eating on the go or for a quick bite to eat. Freshly prepared with all ingredients sourced locally, Yoobi is definitely one to try! It has a fun, quirky interior with bold pops of colour and a hip, young vibe.
Just a six minute walk from in Camden, Bento Ramen is a great sushi spot nearby the hostel. Camden excels when it comes to oriental food so it would be wrong not to include this London borough in our list. Bento Ramen sells awesome ramen, but the sushi is also amazing. Fresh, tasty and delicate.

Located in the heart of Greenwich, just up the road from our Greenwich hostel, Zaibatsu is an absolute must to satisfy your sushi cravings during a busy day of exploring London’s south east. High quality fish for seriously affordable prices, lovely staff and even BYOB… If this isn’t sushi heaven, we don’t know what is.
If it’s great quality sushi AND jaw-dropping prices you’re expecting here, you definitely will not be surprised. This intimate little restaurant is a go-to for those in-the-know, as when there’s a mouth watering 12 piece selection on the menu costing only £6.90, there’s no going back.
