Cardiff is home to some awesome bars - but with so many to choose from it can be tricky deciding where to spend your night. Here are the 5 best bars in Cardiff, recommended by our NosDa staff in the wonderful Welsh capital...

1) TINY REBEL

25 Westgate St, Cardiff CF10 1DD

If you’re a craft beer fan, this is the bar for you. Popular with a more alternative crowd, this award-winning Welsh brewery has a fantastic range of keg ales and cask ales on tap, as well as great pizza. They also host cool events from retro video game night to quiz nights - so check what’s on while you’re in Cardiff. It's located on the other side of the river, just a 9 minute walk from the hostel.

2) LIVE LOUNGE

9 The Friary, Cardiff CF10 3FA

The place to party ‘till late. We all love going here, for cheap booze, great cocktails and cheesy music! Live Lounge is usually full of a young crowd, and if you go earlier in the evening there are some good live bands playing there (they host about 4 artists/bands a day). It’s a rockin’ venue and hosts DJ’s until 4am. The light-up bar has a HUGE selection of drink. Entry is free except for Saturdays after midnight.

3) NOSDA

53-59 Despenser St, Cardiff CF11 6AG

The place to mingle and make friends. Our lively bar (part of the hostel) is a great place to kick off your night, and the best place to meet other travellers staying at the hostel. Situated just across from the famous Millennium Stadium with pretty river views, Nosda throw open-mic nights on Wednesdays, serving Welsh food, ale and Welsh music acts!

4) CRAFTY DEVIL

16 Llandaff Rd, Cardiff CF11 9NJ

These guys supply NosDa loads of tasty craft beers. It's a small Cardiff Brewery, very popular with the Cardiffians. Crafty Devil has its own little bar, on the outskirts of town, with  a lovely beer garden for the summer months. Very chilled out atmosphere and GREAT bottled beer. Check out their #CannedinCardiff campaign, with the aim to package all of their beer themselves without having to send it away to a site they have no influence over.

5) FUEL

5 Womanby St, Cardiff CF10

For the rock n’ roll lovers amongst you. Fuel is located in the heart of Cardiff's music quarter, Womanby Street. It’s the best rock and heavy metal bar in town. Perhaps not for everyone (rock fans only)…
